WHAT IF COMMUNITY – A Creative Advocacy Network

Over a period of 15 months, LOES, GEN Ukraine and Tepla Gora Foundation are working together on the project “WHAT IF COMMUNITY – A Creative Advocacy Network”. The project aims to bring together Ukrainian civil society actors, artists and activists in a creative network that strengthens creative advocacy, resilience and solidarity with Ukraine through shared learning, mentorship, regional hackathons and digital collaboration spaces. samarbejdsrum.

What the project will do:

  • Bring together around 25 civil society representatives and approximately 100 Ukrainian artists, designers, digital communicators and activists in a shared network.

  • Organise a 14-day residency with workshops in creative advocacy, nonviolent communication, digital storytelling, marketing and AI.

  • Hold 5 regional hackathons where participants develop ideas and turn them into concrete campaigns and creative formats.

  • Build an online platform where participants can share knowledge, find collaborators and continue their work across distances and uncertain conditions.

  • Support the development of films, podcasts, graphics, social media campaigns and other creative products that amplify Ukrainian voices and challenge propaganda and misinformation.

Why the project matters

The project responds to the need for stronger creative and civic responses to the information war that accompanies Russia’s war against Ukraine. By connecting artists, activists and civil society actors with one another and with international allies, the project creates both new communities and new narratives that can reach people who are otherwise difficult to engage. The aim is not only to strengthen participants’ skills here and now, but also to build a lasting network and a shared foundation for future campaigns, collaborations and solidarity with Ukraine.
