Spaces of Unity
Over 12 months, LOES and GEN Ukraine are collaborating on “Spaces of Unity”, a project that strengthens GEN Ukraine’s institutional capacity and supports eco-communities in developing sustainable, regenerative, and community-led responses to war, displacement, and recovery in Ukraine.
What the project will do:
Strengthen GEN Ukraine’s leadership, governance, and strategic capacity through a general assembly, strategic reviews, eco-village SWOT audits, and local growth plans.
Build capacities in regional eco-communities through community building training, online courses, regenerative toloka workshops, and the mobile workshop caravan.
Develop practical tools such as the digital guide “Grassroot Economy” and catalogues of green solutions that can be shared across the network and used by local communities throughout Ukraine.
Expand advocacy, partnerships, and dialogue with local authorities, civil society, and other stakeholders to promote community-led solutions for sustainable development and climate resilience.
Engage eco-communities, internally displaced people, children, youth, and local partners in shared activities that strengthen leadership, social cohesion, and green transition.
Why the project matters:
The project is important because many local communities in Ukraine are living with the consequences of war, displacement, and pressure on local resources, while there is also an urgent need for sustainable and community-based solutions. By strengthening GEN Ukraine and the capacity of eco-communities, Spaces of Unity helps build more resilient local communities where people can work together on green recovery, social cohesion, and long-term solutions rooted in local needs.
